Mar Adentro is a dream property located in San José del Cabo, between the Pacific ocean and the Mexican desert.

Since this area of low California is rather isolated, the designer Miguel Angél Aragonés ensured that many parts were brought on site already prefabricated. Mar Adentro is – in the architect’s words – “a Medina that opens onto the sea”. The building houses a hotel with 145 rooms, 65 apartments and 25 independent villas; all spaces have a privileged relationship with water and overlook the Pacific and the spectacular swimming pools that connect the various parts of the complex.

The interiors are white and welcoming, minimal and comfortable. Poliform Contract took care of most of the finishes, providing coverings (parquet flooring and wood panelling), doors, all fixed and mobile furnishings of the residential areas including kitchens and bathrooms, as well as the restaurant area. Each component has been made to design, in harmony with the overall architectural language and made exclusively with natural materials, marked by maximum formal essentiality.

ADI – the Italian Association for Industrial Design – also awarded Poliform founders Alberto SpinelliAldo Spinelli and Giovanni Anzani theGolden Compass for their careers. This award, now in its XXV edition, is considered the most important Italian award in the field of design. It is an award to the “know-how” and entrepreneurial vision. An award for the quality of design, where the winner was not – this time – a product, but an entire company.
